Cossos al buit is the debut feature film by Alba Bresolí Aliberch. Set in rural Catalonia, in a landscape shaped by the meat industry, the film follows Uma, a seven-year-old girl who forms a deep bond with an injured sow. Through this relationship, her childlike understanding of care, love and nature begins to fracture as she discovers the hidden violence that sustains the world around her.
The project is produced by Fractal and Malcriada Films, and has been supported by Beques GAC, the Master in Creative Documentary at UPF-BSM, Cinema Pendent and LIM². It grows out of Alba’s intimate relationship with the territory, her long-standing interest in the effects of the meat industry on bodies, animals and landscapes, and a hybrid methodology that combines fiction, observation and field research.
The film is currently in development. We are working on the script, research process, casting and early rehearsals, while seeking development and production financing, international co-production partners, and future sales and distribution allies. Our aim is to build a formally distinctive European debut feature with a strong festival trajectory and an international premiere.
